Pockets of Time

Gallery RAG x Firefolk Art | Waitsfield, VT | March 2026

Pockets of Time is an exhibition assembled from the residue of living. Small, accumulated moments made visible through mark, material, and gesture. Across works on paper, mixed media paintings, and large-scale installation, each piece operates as a discrete pocket: a sliver of time held open long enough to be examined. Individually they read as fragments; together they form a larger act of radical acceptance, an acknowledgment that process is never finished, only gathered. The show resists resolution in favor of accumulation. Nothing is tidied, nothing is concluded, and in that refusal, something whole emerges.

Mixed media art installation titled here we are (2025) by Elizabeth Rennie and Carolyn Sirois. The piece features a wire drawing on the wall, layered with fabric (including pink tulle and sheer white and green netting), a large textured graphite and ink drawing, and sculptural elements made of sticks, mesh, string, and found objects. Organic materials and soil are scattered on the floor, creating a sense of collapse or emergence. The work evokes themes of environment, entanglement, and embodiment through its interplay of natural and synthetic textures.

Unfolding, Repeated 15.30.03.27 proposes the gallery space as a pocket of time — a boundary drawn, filled, and left mid-process. The teal tape demarcates both a stage and a threshold, while layered materials accumulate inside it like sediment: evidence of making, unmaking, and returning.
