Description
Dirge 06.20.26.16.40 layers grief and beauty into something quietly monumental. Deep teal and black grounds give way to luminous, gestural swipes of white and mint, while collaged fragments of vivid pink interrupt the darkness the way memory does: sudden, almost jarring, then gone. I built this piece during a heavy week of reflection on loss and the strange rituals we perform around it, and that emotional weight lives in every texture, the raw canvas edges, the stitched lines, the paint that drips beyond its borders. This is a painting for someone who understands that mourning and gratitude can occupy the same space, and who wants that complexity living on their wall.
